Nicki Hernandez

1st Grade

My name is Nicki Hernandez. I am a first grade teacher at Shady Grove Elementary. I enjoy working with children and helping them reach their full potential.  I believe every child should be valued and treated with respect.  An education should empower a child and help him or her make a positive contribution to our world.

I graduated from Texas Tech University and have worked in education for 12 years. This is my 4th year to teach first grade and I would not choose to be anywhere else.

My husband, Dominic, and I grew up right here in Burnet County and decided to raise our family here. We have a son, Gage, and a daughter, Rylee. I enjoy spending time with family and friends boating on the Highland Lakes or barbequing in the backyard. I also enjoy reading and working out.

I look forward to working closely with you to make this a successful and fun 1st grade year for your child!

SO many coats!

Parents,
Please put your child's name on everything they bring to school, especially their coats. We have dozens left at school every year that go unclaimed and they are starting to accumulate this year. As a class, we will be checking the lost and found (located in the cafeteria) regularly.
Thank you!

Congratulations to our September Super Citizen and Super Star. Maggie is a great reader and always works hard to improve her reading stamina! Alvaro always makes good choices and is a friend to everyone! Super proud of these two!
