Social Emotional Learning at SGE

Mrs. Johnson has continued to use Second Steps as her foundation for Social Emotional Learning at Shady Grove, and new for this school year Officer Raney has been using the Too Good Program. They have joined their efforts this year by combining their lessons to give students strategies, opportunities to practice, and encouragement to be the best students they can be. These lessons include topics such as: goal setting, emotion regulation, conflict resolution, respecting ourselves and others, and effective communication. Both programs use puppets, stories, and allow for students to apply strategies to real situations.

At Shady Grove Elementary, we encourage our students to take ownership in their learning, allow for reflection and restoration with our decisions, and learn to talk out our problems. Social Emotional Learning is very important for our young students. We love to see growth in academics and SEL here at SGE!
