Mrs. Kappelmann's Music Room

Meet Mrs. Kappelmann

My husband and I have enjoyed living in Burnet for almost four years. In that time, I have taught in both Fine Arts and General Education classrooms. My undergraduate degree is from Baylor University where I studied both Music and Elementary Education! Activities my husband and I love are hiking, camping, running, music, and trying new foods. My personal hobbies are baking, yoga, and singing! With a heart for music, as well as education, I look forward to partnering with the community as we prepare students for lifelong learning.

The Importance of Teaching Music

Research has indicated an improvement in academic, social, and behavioral performance when students are routinely involved in an art or music related subject area. Some of the impactful benefits of Fine Arts education are listed below!

Improved retention of information
Improved fine motor skills
Improved sound distinction
Increased attention span
Lowered stress
Increased emotional stability
Increased self-esteem/positive self-perception
Lowered drug use
Higher attendance rates
Increased graduation rates
Increased test scores
Increased connection to others/sociability

A few ways you can support your child at home in the Fine Arts may include encouragement to practice singing or playing with art materials, coming up with creative ways to make music with various items in your house, helping your child prepare for an audition, attending a Fine Arts related performance with your child, ensuring your child is at school during Fine Arts class times, or simply asking your child how Music class went that day.

Thank you for all you do! I am so excited to meet your child, and I look forward to helping him/her build not only a musical foundation, but a lifelong love for learning.

Let's have a great year,
Mrs. Kappelmann

Sing, sing a song

Make it simple to last

Your whole life long

Don't worry that it's not

Good enough for anyone

Else to hear

Just sing, sing a song
