Mrs.Green

Hello!

I’m Mrs. Vannah Green, and I’m proud to serve as a Kindergarten teacher at Shady Grove Elementary.

This is my third year teaching Kindergarten, and I can honestly say it is my favorite place to be. There is nothing quite like watching a child walk into school for the first time and grow into a confident, curious learner who believes in themselves.

If there’s one thing to know about me, it’s that I believe learning and laughter belong together. You’ll often find me reading stories with dramatic voices, celebrating tiny victories like they’re Olympic events, and sprinkling a little humor throughout the day. (Yes, I’ve been known to make animal noises or turn a phonics lesson into a comedy show!) At the same time, I hold my students to high expectations because I truly believe every child is capable of incredible growth.

I’m passionate about connecting with people, building meaningful relationships, and helping students discover their greatest potential. One of my favorite moments as a teacher is seeing a child realize, “I can do this!” Those moments never get old.

My husband and I have been married for 19 wonderful years, and together we have five amazing children. He is a retired United States Marine, which gave our family the opportunity to live in places like Japan and California before making Burnet our forever home in 2016. Although I’ve loved the adventures along the way, I’m a proud Texan at heart and originally from Denison, Texas, the birthplace of President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Our family is always cheering each other on! Our daughter, Faith Green, is a Burnet High School graduate and currently serves as the Librarian at Shady Grove Elementary while earning her degree through Texas State University. Our son, Aaron Green, is a state qualifier in diving at Burnet High School, and our youngest, Addy Green, is an upcoming 8th grader at Burnet Middle School who would happily spend every free minute outdoors exploring nature. We also have two older sons, Cody and Noah Green. Cody is an incredibly gifted artist, and Noah proudly served in the United States Marine Corps before beginning his career as a police officer in Colorado.

When I’m not in the classroom, you’ll probably find me with a book in one hand and a cup of black coffee in the other. I love reading, the smell of coffee shops, rainy afternoons, and finding joy in the little things. I also love setting goals and working hard to achieve them, and I enjoy helping my students do the same. I want every child in my classroom to know that with perseverance, encouragement, and a growth mindset, they can accomplish amazing things.

Above all else, my faith and my family are at the center of my life. I strive to lead with kindness, joy, gratitude, and authenticity. Teaching is much more than a profession to me—it is a calling and a privilege. Every day, I work to create a classroom where students feel safe, celebrated, challenged, and excited to learn.

I’m honored to be part of the Shady Grove family and grateful for the opportunity to help shape the earliest years of a child’s educational journey. Here’s to learning, laughter, and making every day count!
