Welcome to Shady Grove Elementary!  I am excited to meet all of my new little friends, get to know them as well as all about what they like to do and what some of their favorite things are.  This is my 10th year at Shady Grove and my 20th year in kindergarten!  I live in Leander with my husband Sergio and we have five children and two grandchildren.   I love reading books and photography.  My favorite color is red, my favorite snacks are Peanut Butter M & Ms or Twizzlers, my favorite drink Chi tea latte hot or blended and I love Kindergarten!!  That is why I come back every year :) 

We will be learning all about our routines, reading, math, writing(and becoming authors) as well as science and social studies!  Kindergarten is a very busy place!!  I always tell my little friends that they are my school family and they will be in my heart forever!!

If you ever have questions or just want to meet to see how your student is doing, please let me know and we will set up a time to meet.  I am always glad to share how your child is doing and talk about my little friends!  My conference times are listed to the right and I can schedule a time before or after school if you need a different time.  I also use an app called Class Tag.  I will send  a message that invites you to download the app.  I use it to send home information, share pictures of your child, make announcements, set up conferences and ask for volunteers.  It also can be used to communicate like a text message or an email.  It is really great!!

I really hope your child is excited about beginning the school year...all of the anxieties about the “newness” will soon disappear and we will all be having such a great time as we start learning our routines and making friends to enjoy throughout the year.  We have many new things to learn, but we will work together to have a fantastic year for us all!  I am sure you have many questions about your child’s kindergarten year, so I will be sending home some information to help answer some of your questions.   If I do not answer all of your questions, please feel free email me at [email protected].   You can also call school and leave a message at 512-756-2126 and I will get in touch with you as soon as I can. 

What to Bring to School:
Your child will need to bring a backpack every day.  Please check the contents of this backpack daily!   I will give each child a Paw Planner to keep any papers, as well as a weekly newsletter and any important notes that come from the office or me. This folder needs to be checked, initialed sent back to school every day it is our line of daily communication!! 

Your child will also need to have sneakers or athletic shoes to wear on gym days. If your child does not know how to tie shoes, it would be helpful to help them practice. It is helpful to send your child to school with these shoes on everyday because we are running, climbing and playing and in the sand and wood chips  or on the blacktop every day.

Snack Time 
We will be having a small snack daily. These little ones tend to get hungry with such a long day and only lunch to eat.   If you would like to send a snack, we will be having an afternoon snack, that they may eat when we go out to recess.
