We need parents to help make Shady Grove Elementary the BEST it can be! See flyer for details... Meetings are the 4th Wednesday of every month, 5:30pm in the Shady Grove Elementary Library.

In January, we partnered with the Hill Country Children’s Advocacy Center to bring us a great program called Play It Safe. The program is “research-based, age appropriate child abuse prevention information for Kindergarten through high school age students.” The interactive Play it Safe curriculum helps children recognize abusive behavior, and provides tools children can use to be safe. The staff at HCCAC does a fabulous job presenting to our students!

Michael Finklea, author of several children's books, was kind enough to visit our campus this week. He spoke to 1st & 2nd graders about "Never Giving Up"! The students were encouraged to be diligent in their studies and inspired to be future authors! We appreciate Mr. Finklea donating his time & resources to help motivate our students!

We are so proud of our Shady Grove students and their acts of service! We spent MLK Jr. day celebrating through service. Our acts of service included making friendship cards and quilts for our local nursing homes, collecting and donating snacks for our local fire department, picking up trash around our own campus and giving to the Humane Society!

Our Kindergarten Team joined with parents and students to participate in our Winter Wonderland Reading last Thursday night. A BIG thank you to the 80 plus families who attended, and to all of our staff members who donated books for the event. It was a HUGE success!!

Sindra Salinas is our Shady Grove Teacher of the Year for the 2019/2020 school year! Sindra connects with students not only in the classroom but out of the classroom as well, she supports students’ social emotional growth as well as academic, consistently encourages her students to push themselves and student success is always her number one priority. We are proud to have Sindra here with us at SGE!

Please take time in January to thank our dedicated School Board members for their service! They are committed to public education and the continuing success of our students and schools!

Burnet FFA donated a total of 60 fully stocked backpacks to Burnet CISD elementary schools this year! 2019 marks the third anniversary our FFA members have been able to provide supplies for our community. Pictured are the club's officers presenting 20 backpacks to Shady Grove Elementary.

● Breakfast for all students ends at 7:40.
● Classroom doors open at 7:40 (bell).
● Instruction starts at 7:45.
Students NOT in the classroom by 7:50 will be counted TARDY
