Our Counselor Melissa Johnson and School Resource Officer Courtney Raney have partnered this school year to bring valuable lessons to students here at SGE.

This year each Burnet CISD Elementary campus held their own UIL Competition due to COVID-19. Shady Grove Elementary held their events on Tuesday, March 2nd and Wednesday, March 3rd. Second grade competed in Creative Writing, Sorytelling, Chess, Creative Art, and Music Memory. The following students won their categories.

Congratulations to Crystle Teague, our Shady Grove Educational Assistant of the Year!  Crystle shows her love for students everyday at Shady Grove by starting off their day with a happy greeting each morning in the car drop off line.  She goes above and beyond wherever she is needed, and always with a kind and caring attitude.  We are proud to have Crystle as a part of our Shady Grove Family!

We are celebrating Dr. Seuss next week. Students can dress up to join in on the fun!

Monday - Mixed Up Clothing, Tuesday - Wear a Hat, Wednesday - Wear Wacky Socks, Thursday - Dress up like your favorite Seuss character & Friday - Wear Green.

There is an inspirational quote from Rita Pierson that describes Tami Laws well. It reads, “Every child deserves a champion. An adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best they can possibly be.” Mrs. Laws lives this out each and every day with her students, and the support she gives reaches beyond to our entire campus. We know that all students come to us needing to be loved before they can learn. She is someone we can rely on for advice, ideas and inspiration when we are struggling to find answers to help those who need the extra love, the extra time and the extra energy. The work she does is invaluable, and we could not do this without her.

On Friday, January 15th, Shady Grove teachers presented students with Spirit, Pride, and Honor Awards for Fall 2020. These awards were given to students that demonstrated special qualities consistently throughout the first semester. Each award has a special meaning. Students receiving the Spirit award show kindness to others and express positivity in everything they do. Students awarded the Pride award are hard working, goal oriented, and take ownership of their work. Our Honor recipients are STAR students, high achievers, and strive for excellence.
